Visa information

GENERAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS SEEKING TO VISIT RWANDA ON A TOURIST VISA 
From 1st  Jan  2018, Nationals of all countries receive visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport and all land borders. Citizens of countries members to the following international organizations; African Union, Commonwealth and La Francophonie get visa upon arrival and are waived visa fees for a visit of 30 days. 
A citizen of East African Community Member States shall be issued a pass/entry visa free of charge upon arrival to stay for the period of six months. 
The following countries to be granted 90 days valid visa free of charge upon arrival: Angola, Benin, Central African Republic, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, The Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis, Ghana, Guinea, Indonesia, Haiti, Mauritius, Philippines, Senegal, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Sao Tome and Principe, Singapore and the state Qatar. 

Application for visa extension is submitted at Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration offices.   Detailed requirements are set out in the Information for applicants for each class of visa.  
Visitors who wish to visit simultaneously the three countries (Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda) for tourism may apply for the East Africa Tourist Visa (EATV) online at https://irembo.gov.rw/rolportal/web/dgie/east-africa-tourist-visa, upon arrival or from Rwanda Diplomatic missions abroad.  

If acquiring the EATV visa before travel, your first entry point must be the country through which you applied for the visa.  The East Africa Tourist Visa costs US$100, is valid for 90 days and is multiple entry (if staying within the three countries).

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS TO KIGALI, RWANDA 

KIGALI INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Kigali International Airport (IATA: KGL, ICAO: HRYR) is the main international airport serving Kigali, the capital of Rwanda. The Kigali International Airport is 10km away from the venue, which is an approximate 25-minute drive. International airlines providing services at Kigali International Airport are RwandAir, Kenya Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, KLM, Qatar Airways and Turkish Airlines.

Travelling from the Airport by Taxi

Taxis are available 24 hours a day at Kigali International Airport. They are mostly white with a horizontal orange strip of colour. Most do not have meters and any rate in Kigali or outside Kigali must be negotiated with the driver before entering the vehicle.

YegoCabs (white with a horizontal orange strip): available 24h/7; dial 9191 to hail a Car taxi, 1,500 Rwf for the first 2km then 700 Rwf for every additional KM. Please note that Uber is not in operation in Rwanda.

Travelling from the Airport by Hotel Shuttle

Delegates are encouraged to arrange with their selected hotel for airport transfers. In Kigali, most hotels arrange airport shuttles for a price ranging between USD 25-35.

COVID-19 NOTE FOR PASSENGERS ARRIVING AND DEPARTING FROM RWANDA

As part of Government measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the following is mandatory upon entry into Rwanda:

The COVID-19 measures to be followed during travel are available under the tab “Info Note for Passengers Eng” at: https://www.rbc.gov.rw. Participants should familiarize themselves with the measures in good time to ensure they make the needed preparations to travel. Incoming travellers eligible (aged 12 years and above) for Covid-19 vaccine are encouraged to be fully vaccinated before their travel.

BEFORE DEPARTURE

Passengers boarding flights to Kigali must present a negative Covid-19 test (rapid or PCR) taken at a registered clinic no more than 72 hours prior to departure. The Passenger Locator Form is no longer a requirement before departure.

ARRIVAL

An additional Covid test is no longer required upon arrival at Kigali International Airport. Face masks are no longer mandatory in Rwanda, but their use is encouraged in public indoor settings.

TEST RESULTS

Test results obtained in Rwanda will be shared by SMS or email and via the online portal accessible at https://www.rbc.gov.rw. In case of difficulty obtaining results, contact the RBC Medical Team on 114 or covid@rbc.gov.rw

DEPARTURE

A Covid test is no longer a requirement to depart Rwanda by air. However, Covid testing (to be arranged by the Traveller at own cost) is available for all Travellers whose final destination requires one, at health centres and other designated sites.

Travellers who test positive for COVID-19 will be treated at their own cost as indicated in the COVID-19 Clinical Management Guidelines available at www.rbc.gov.rw until they have fully recovered.

YELLOW FEVER NOTICE

The Rwandan Ministry of Health requires all Travellers coming from countries endemic to Yellow Fever to produce proof of vaccination at border posts. Delegates without proof of vaccination will be immunized at the airport clinic at a cost of US$40.

TRAVEL AND HEALTH INSURANCE

The organizers and host of the PAMCA 2022 Annual Conference & Exhibition are not responsible for medical, accident, travel insurance, loss of or damage to private property, that may be incurred during travel to or within Rwanda during the period of participation at the conference. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that participants obtain international medical insurance for the entire period of participation, including travel time.
